This form of the "Magick of the Season" is not really about folk Magick, because Folk Magick, with effort and research, may be found in books.
Here are three rites, by three writers, that "connects" to the "Blood Moon" in October and as well to the "Magick of the Season" after the Samhain Festival is enjoyed. Each of these rites do contain necessary elements and items of "Folk Magick" in
it. We suggest reading through the rites first, to accumulate the knowledge and list of necessary goods, before beginning any one of these rites. These rites may be worked either as a group or as a Solitary. Cauldron Conjuring for

By Lady Brid © Copyright October 1997 Bats N' Bellfrie Zine Be within a circle cast and elements called, on the New Moon that will Wax to
Rowan Moon Night. Use a mixture of Dragons Blood, Sandalwood, and Cinnamon for an incense during the rite. Using a "clean" Cauldron in the Circle center, Anoint seven bright orange candles with Cinnamon Oil or an All purpose Oil like Sandalwood, and
say this when lighting each on (remember do NOT use matches!!!) "Whisk Ye, Weave Ye, Wending Ye! Conjure Forth My Wish To Me!" Then take up a cleanly washed potato, and upon the potato, carve your wish three times, or write the wish three times
on parchment paper in red ink, then burn it and rub the ashes of the parchment into the potato. Hold the potato up to the New Moon and say three times.... "Wish I Will, To Waxing Moon, My Wish To Seed, I Call My Need,
--------------------- (Your wish here) I Conjure Ye Forth, In The Name Of Brid!" Concentrate and visualize the wish being filled with the
power of the Moon going into the "Wish Seed" (potato). Then place it into the Cauldron. Next, walk the Circle seven times doesil (clockwise) saying as a chant... "Wind And Fire, Fill My Desire, Water And Earth, Conjure Its Birth!" Saying
many times over... "Moon To Weave, Sun To Sieve, My Wish To Conceive!"
Then kiss a silver coin and place it into the Cauldron as well. Cover it over with a dark cloth until the orange candles are done burning. Then
unseal the Circle. Use the cloth you used to cover the Cauldron to pick up the coin and potato from within the Cauldron. Immediately place in a pot of soil or bury underneath the north root of an Oak tree. (include the wax drippings) water it once a day
until the night of the Blood Moon. Your wish will manifest in 28 days.

Rite of the Crones Crook Besom By Lady Raven © Copyright October 1997 Bat's N' Bellfrie Zine Yes, this is a besom. But not as like your
"Standard" Witches Besom. This one is for the Crone, and its purpose is different than a Hearth Besom as such. The "Pole" is not Ash or Willow, it is of a "Wood" that is "Bowed" or "crooked" at the end... Not knobbed or phallus shaped. The "Crook" is
called the "Crone's Finger" or the "Lithy Crow's Perch".
This should begin in a "Circle", with the elements "called". Place into the Cauldron a black Agate, a Carnelian, and an Amethyst. Now, place the
"Besom" together and tie the Thatch fast with Weeping Willow branches and lay it upon the Altar (Not the ground or floor -- ever!) Then incant three times... "Callieach's Stones By "Crook A Keeping" Stone Of Black, Keeps Unseelie Back, Stone Of
Red, Ties Them To Their Bed. Purple Stone, Halts Them Where They Room, Three By Three, This Magick Be."
Then lay it back upon the Altar and light a red candle anointed with Dragons Blood Oil, and a black candle anointed with Patchouli
Oil at each end of the Besom. (The Crooked End and The Goose Neck (thatched) end). Then unseal the Circle. Wait for the candles to burn out and then take your new "Crone's Crook Besom" and "Ritually Sweep" your Home, Hearth, and Front Doorway. Then
hang the Besom up with the Crooked End facing north. Leave it there for a "Year and a Day". This will dispell "random" energy and any chaotic sources from your home and life course.
This should be made, and rite conjured 3 days after Blood Moon and must be hung at least one night before Samhain Eve. And Yes, this is where the
"throught" came from that a Kitchen Witch is Good Luck in todays modern world.

Rowan Moon Rite of the Biddy and Bottle © Copyright October 1997 Bats N' Bellfrie Zine The Rowan Moon energy is "workable" and "weaved" in
many wondrous ways. This rite is done to "influence" the powers of the "stability" and "renewal" throughout the New Year to come. You should be in a cast Circle with elements summoned forth. You will need your Cauldron on you Altar and it needs to be
surrounded with the Oil of Myrrh, yet unlit. Then place into the Cauldron a "clean" dark brown bottle (uncorked) that you have pre-painted with the rising coiled serpent of light green hues. (Do the best that you can on the drawing). Once this is done
you call out...
"Spiral Of Green, O Serpents Flowing, Light To Wax, The "Might" Is Growing, Bound And Lend By Nicneven Send, To Cauldron Round, That Holds
Thee!"
Tap the Cauldron thrice with your Dirk, and begin placing into the bottle... Fill half of the bottle with white vinegar, or Apple Cider 3
drops Cinnamon Oil 5 drops Bayberry Oil 1 drop Myrrh Oil 1/4 cup Blessed Thistle 3 pinches of Black Walnut Powder 1/4 cup Vervain 3 pinches White Heather 3 strands of your Own Hair Then anoint another candle of light green
(a taper), with Oil of Sandalwood, and place it into the neck of the bottle, the base used as a "Cork". Then light the light green candle and visualize as you say...
"Around The Wheel Ere Ye Go, Thirteen Moons To Course, Stability I Will Know! Then light the thirteen dark green candles and
say... "Moon To Moon, Sun To Sun, For The Year To Com, Renewal Is Won!" Then let all the candles burn out except for the light green "Cork" candle, which you will snuff (NOT BLOW) out just before it reaches the bottle neck. Then unseal the
Circle. Take up a "Straw" or "Wheat" Biddy that is opened at Her base and place Her over the bottle and bind Her tight to the Bottle with a cord. Pick up the Cauldron with the Biddy and bottle inside and you walk about your Home, visualizing as you do
that the "Energy" is flowing forth and chant... "Nicnevens Light Of Waxing Be, By Wind And Fire, Earth And Sea, Stability And Renewal Be Mine, Bright Blessings Be, Bright Blessings Be!!" Then take the Biddy and bottle from the Cauldron
and place it in Your kitchen window on a glass saucer or plate. This helps to keep a stable atmosphere in Your home and at work or play. Many times over the course of the year, when I feel the "need to be renewed", I "see" the bottle for a few moments,
and it does its work well each time.
